The Blackwood Soldiers Project is a local military history project aimed at producing a book with a page dedicated to each sailor, soilder or nurse that served in the First World Ware and lived in Blackwood, Coromandel Valley, Cheery Gardens, Eden Hills, Belair or Upper Sturt SA before or after the War.
The project has so far identified over 250 service personnel and has made contact with a number of relatives who have been able to provide biographical information and photographs.
We would love to hear from anyone who has any information about any service personnel from the district whether or not their names are on various memorials in the area.

Draft Craigburn Farm Planning Amendment Report
-+ Draft Craigburn Farm Planning Amendment Report
On the 23rd October 2007 Mitcham Council approved for public consultation a draft Development Plan amendment for Craigburn Farm. There has been an important change to the proposal.
This document shows the land in question (between Watts Terrace and Grande Boulevard, adjacent to Coromandel Parade) to be zoned Local Shopping not Neighbourhood Shopping. If this was approved it would accommodate a maximum retail floor space of 1000 square metre with access from Watts Terrace only adjacent to Coromandel Parade).
I understand many residents oppose any shopping centre (local or otherwise) at this site and this has been made clear to Council.
There is a formal consultation period where residents can make written submissions and there is also a public meeting – see overleaf for details.
Many people have suggested the site be open space or retirement units for the mature aged or residential. The consultation period is the opportunity for residents to put forward such views.
I would be interested in receiving your comments. If you wish to give your feedback on these changes please click here.
